As senior member of the EMBL Hamburg IT team, the successful candidate is expected to maintain and enhance relevant computing facilities. MAIN TASKS INCLUDE: - Installation and maintenance of desktop systems. - Helpdesk support for staff and visiting scientists on Linux, Windows and Macintosh platforms. - Maintenance of the local area network, backup and data storage systems. - Contribution to the management of Linux-based infrastructure systems. - Management of installation / maintenance / upgrade projects including interactions and negotiations with suppliers. - Close collaboration with all members of the IT team including guidance, mentorship and advice. - Co-ordination of daily tasks within the IT team. - Close interaction with research staff and fellows as well as non-scientific staff of the EMBL Hamburg Unit.
